Faith Resources in the face of the practice of "Assisted Suicide"
In 2015 the Supreme Court of Canada passed legislation which has made Medical Assistance in Dying - MAiD (Assisted Suicide) legal under certain strict conditions. A slippery slope was begun!
With pressure from segments of the population the government seeks to enlarge the conditions for which assisted suicide will be allowed.
In the media we see many interviews highlighting the plight of those fighting for their right to die on their own terms, portending that Assisted Suicide will be "dying with dignity". We rarely see the accounts of the other side of the story; the alternative to Assisted Suicide... the stories of those living with many kinds and degrees of suffering who live in dignity with the needed pain management, social and spiritual resources, friends and family. The voices of those living their belief of the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. These stories must be told also.
